Nussdorf Lände got its name in 1875 due to its location at the Danube canal near Nussdorf. A „Lände“ or „Schiffslände“ was a simple landing pier at a river and was thus the simplest kind of an inland port. The river banks were bricked and the waterway accordinglly broadened. Contrary to an elaborately built port there were no buildings that separated the port from the waterway. Nussdorfer Lände was named Holzstraße and Wasserzeile before it became a landing place for boats and ships.
